Bienvenue to the Simply Annecy blog, a digital space where I share with you my experience and local knowledge of living in Annecy so that you may be empowered to make better decisions when you move and better organise your life once here.

The idea for Simply Annecy came about when I arrived in France with little to no idea as to what to expect. Was it bad planning? Definitely. Were we up for the adventure? Gosh yes. We had no idea what we were doing and to a certain degree, we let fate take its course.

It was a steep learning curve in every sense; from finding accommodation, understanding the health service, navigating the education system and dealing with all kinds of daily issues. Of course everything was so much harder because of the language barrier.

As time passed, I immersed myself in French and became involved in various expat groups. I soon found myself helping others find their accommodation, register their children for school, set up WIFI, buy a car, get a sim card. The list goes on.

Simply Annecy is my way of sharing the fruits of my labour or faux pas, depending on your viewpoint, so that you can move and settle in this beautiful place with as little stress as possible.

Simply Annecy is not a sales pitch for Annecy as there are other sites out there that do that. This blog is about daily life. Even in the most beautiful of places, we still have our daily lives to organise and for that, we have to communicate with third parties.

You will notice that I like to post pictures of the area. Some spots are so picturesque that they warrant to be photoed over and over. I'm afraid it can't be helped. If you come to Annecy, you will understand!
